Enquire / BookBig 7 Cruise & Safari
South Africa has some incredible wildlife and Port Elizabeth is possibly the only place in the world where you have the best chance to see the Big 7 in One Day.
morning Sea Cruise
Your day will begin with pick-up at your accommodation, as you will be taken to the grass area at Nelson Mandela Bay Yacht Club in the PE harbour. At 8:30am (time may vary on occasion to accommodate guests due to circumstances, booked guests will be asked/notified of any changes).
you will join a boat cruise in to Algoa Bay with Raggy Charters in search of Southern right whales and Great white sharks! But that is not all you will find. Algoa Bay, recently deemed a Hope Spot due to its incredible marine biodiversity, is home to the largest breeding colony of African penguins in the world and the largest gannetry (Cape gannets) on the planet.
As well as these amazing seabirds there is a good chance of seeing dolphins. Our bay is frequently visited by bottlenose, common and humpback dolphins. Approximately 30,000 Indo-Pacific and common bottlenose dolphins utilise our bay every year and we possibly have the best bottlenose dolphin viewing in the world with pod numbers being anywhere between 40 and 800 individuals. Common dolphins following large shoals of fish can also be seen year round, in groups of up to 2000 dolphins. And humpback dolphins can be seen in much smaller groups very close in shore.
The Southern right whale visits our bay in the winter months and can be seen anywhere between July and November. We also have the mighty humpback whale which can be seen between June and December and the Bryde's whale which can be seen in our bay year round.
Great white sharks can be spotted in the bay, as well as hammerhead sharks in the Summer months which are scattered throughout the water sitting very close to the surface. Our bay also has a breeding population of Cape fur seals at Black Rocks near Bird Island. Other marine species to be spotted include killer whales, ragged-tooth sharks, bronze whalers, cormorants, terns, albatrosses, shearwaters, and petrels!
afternoon Safari
After the boat cruise you will enjoy a lunch before heading on to Addo Elephant National Park for your Afternoon South African Safari. Here you will be in search of the Big 5; Lions, Rhinos, Elephants, Leopards and Buffalo. While in search of the Big 5, you may also encounter, Zebra, Warthog, Kudu, Red Hartebeest, Eland, Hyenas, Jackals, Caracals and many more. Addo is also known for it's rich and diverse bird and reptile species that inhabit the National Park. You will have an incredible day of wildlife viewing. At the end of the day you will be dropped back at your accommodation!
