Jake & Thuba join the Expo on 19th March 2026

"Mr Jake Keeton Raggy Charters during his presentation covered the importance of marine conservation and sustainable tourism along the Eastern Cape coastline. He spoke about the rich biodiversity in the region, including dolphins, whales, penguins, and other marine species, and how responsible tourism, such as regulated whale and dolphin watching, can both protect these animals and support the local economy. He also highlighted key environmental challenges, including whale entanglement in fishing gear, overfishing, and the risks posed by oil and gas exploration.

Additionally, he discussed ongoing conservation initiatives like the Baywatch Project, which focuses on protecting marine ecosystems, reducing pollution, and promoting safer fishing methods such as ropeless fishing technology. Mr Jake Keeton emphasized the need for stronger government regulation and scientific research, particularly in areas like the ADO Canyon, which plays a critical role in sustaining marine life. Beyond environmental issues, he touched on the importance of community involvement, education, and creating opportunities for local people especially youth to participate in and benefit from the tourism sector."     https://www.facebook.com/share/p/14ZuJmKj2NL/
