Swift Tern happy and healthy again!
By Karen Keeton
Saturday, 2nd March 2024On 7th February Lloyd picked up a very tired Swift Tern at Sea View. He picked him up with no objections from the little guy. Wrapped him up and got him to the harbour where SANCCOB met us to fetch him.
SANCCOB did their magic, thoroughly checking the little guy out. Xrays and neuro tests were done and all were clear. They did however discover a fungal infection in the airway and little Swift Tern was put onto a nebulizer and given antifungal meds. They got him in the water and he swam daily and soon built up some strength. Almost 1 month later he was released, on the 2nd March 2024. Strong and healthy and happy to head home. A big thank you to SANCCOB for all their efforts in the rehabilitation of our sea birds. Another great success story!
Feeling poorly and having a good rest and being well cared for. Feeling good and ready to go home.
Watch the video - amazing how he seemed to hover before flying off - a thank you for your help flap of the wings I am sure!
