Welcoming the Whales to Algoa Bay 2024

A wonderful day had by all at The Willows Resort and Conference Centre on 9th June 2024. All was prepped for 2nd June 2024 and the weather was not going to be kind and we had to postpone to the most beautiful day on 9th June 2024. How happy we were that all speakers, exhibitors and most stall holders could join the new date.

The humpback whales beat us to it this year! With a young sub-adult humpback whale enjoying our bay since early May and quite a few following. We look forward to an amazing Migratory Season ahead.

The friendly and cheerful vibe was felt by all on the day. Starting at 9am and ending late that evening. Talks and exhibits were most interesting and well attended. There was great interaction with the Bayworld, SANCCOB and The Waste Trade Company educational exhibits. The talent of the bay on show throughout the day was wonderful and thoroughly enjoyed by all. Starting with the very contagious beat from African Drumbeat, the Mosaic children dance group, local muso's, sandcastle sculptures and last but not least the mesmerising Fire Dancers. The energetic enjoyed the Zsports driven by BYD Kelston Whale Trail and the Educational Coastal Walks. Byd Kelston showcased their new fully electric car the BYD DOLPHIN. The hungry enjoyed the most amazing assortment of eats from our local Food Trucks and the shoppers enjoyed the wonderful variety of market stalls. A very good feeling to support local.
