PACKING LIST FOR VOLUNTEERS

When you are at the beginning of a new adventure, it is always difficult to know what to take with you. Therefore we've tried to make life a little easier by making this list. We've talked to many volunteers and have come up with a few essentials and a few things you may want to consider before you start packing your bags and making for the airport.

Suggested packing list:

  • Wind proof jacket
  • Hiking boots, trainers or sneakers
  • T-shirts or vest tops
  • Two pairs of jeans or long trousers
  • Two pairs of shorts
  • Sunhat
  • Sunglasses
  • Jersey/pullover/thermo-fleece
  • Sandals or flip-flops
  • Swim wear
  • Old clothes
  • Cameras
  • Laptop, if possible (we have free wi-fi)
  • A pair of binoculars
  • Waterproofs, top and bottom (not essential)
  • Daypack

Besides all of the things you will have to bring along in your bags, you will have to make sure you have everything you require for entry in to the country (please see our cost & visa page for information) and to ensure a safe and comfortable stay in South Africa.
